Positive Behavioural Support Practitioner Full Time

Dayam is recruiting for a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Lead Practitioner to work Full-Time for a reputable Care Home which is looking to expand their team within Sussex.

The main role of the Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Lead Practitioner would be to take the lead in development of the PBS framework and embed the PBS philosophy throughout the company.

You would also be working from a focused perspective to promote skills and strategies for independent life. Along with this you would be promoting the principles of person-centred active support within services.

Key Duties and skills

As a PBS Practitioner you will perform the following duties:

• To conduct Behavioural assessments, including functional analysis and interpretations of results.
• To undertake functional behavioural assessments via the referral system and demonstrate to staff and external professionals the functions of behaviour and design strategies to promote a reduction in behaviours that challenge.
• To write professional reports for management and external professionals upon request.
• To complete a range of holistic assessments other than behaviour that may contribute to understanding a person’s needs e.g. sensory, environmental, cognitive etc.
• To develop Key performance indicators that will measure the success of person-centred PBS plans and approve these following a multi-disciplinary approach.
• To facilitate post incident management reporting and recording standards consistent with policy and procedures.
• To work in accordance with statutory and non-statutory guidance concerning PBS.
• To facilitate and deliver person centred PBS workshops and training covering a range of PBS topics, including autism and sensory processing.
• To mentor and supervise new PBS practitioners in their development.
• To work alongside managers and staff teams.
• To liaise with and engage families, significant people, and advocates in positive behaviour support plans when necessary.
• Manage PBS processes.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 Years working with people with Autism and Behaviourally challenged individuals.
• MSc relevant to working with people with learning disabilities.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to write high quality positive behaviour support plans for individuals, and to train/coach others to do the same.
• Ability to implement all elements of a Positive Behaviour Support approach.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Effective computer literacy skills, including use of Microsoft Office and Reveal Database.
